NEVADA (KTNV) — An earthquake Friday afternoon sent shock waves through the central Nevada desert that were felt in Tonopah and Hawthorne.
The U.S. Geological Survey reported a 4.9 magnitude tremor hit at about 1:40 p.m. with the Nevada Department of Transportation reporting possible road damage in the area.

Friday's shaker comes after a series of strong earthquakes that also rocked the Nevada desert in May, about 35 miles outside of Tonopah.
The USGS also reports quakes of 4.3, 3.3, and 3.0 to hit the same area on Friday in Mina.
