UPDATE JULY 16: The Clark County coroner has identified the 3-year-old child who died as a result of being left in a hot car on July 15. Chase Lee of Fillmore, Utah, is the victim in this unfortunate situation.

Las Vegas, NV -  A toddler has died after he was left in a car for more than an hour, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Around 4:50 p.m., police responded to reports of an injured child at the Grandview Resort at 9940 South Las Vegas Boulevard. Officers determined that the child was suffering from heat-related injuries. The 3-year-old child was subsequently taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

"At this time it appears it's just a tragic accident. We have a very large family who came to town and appears to maybe have lost track of one of the juveniles," said Lt. Roger Price adding that at least a dozen children were with the group.

Abuse and Neglect officers are investigating the case. At this time, police could not confirm if any charges are expected.
