UPDATE: 3-year-old boy identified after drowning in pool

Police say a child was found unresponsive in a pool at a home of Supai Drive near Lindell Road and Twain Avenue.

According to initial information, the child was briefly unsupervised and ended up in a pool at a nearby home.

The deceased child is a 3-year-old boy. The Clark County coroner identified him as Christopher Martinez. 

"It's very important that people are aware of their children," said Lt. Frank Fama. "Especially young children and their safety is paramount. A few moments can go by and next thing you know it's minutes and the child is unsupervised and something tragic can happen."

According to Southern Nevada Health District, there were 10 fatal drownings for children between the age of 0 and 14 for 2017. 8 children between the ages of 0 and 4 drowned that year.
