A 23-year-old motorcyclist from Las Vegas received life-threatening injuries in a crash Saturday morning.
Around 7:15 a.m., police reported a single-vehicle, off-road crash near Jean. It occurred in the desert area approximately 215 feet north of Night Ranch Road and 6 miles east of Las Vegas Boulevard.
Police said the Kawasaki was traveling south through the desert area, when the operator, identified as Jacob Thompson, attempted to jump the motorcycle across a ravine. The motorcycle landed south of the ravine, at which time the operator was ejected.
Thompson traveled approximately 30 feet and came to rest. The motorcycle continued approximately 46 feet and fell over onto its side.
Thompson was transported to University Medical Center via air ambulance with critical injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
