Two men are dead, and a woman is in extremely critical condition after a large boat crashed at Lake Havasu around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Mohave County Sheriff's Office says that the boat had crashed in the South Basin near the Contact Point Water Safety Center after traveling at a high rate of speed.
Several boats operated by good Samaritans were nearby and pulled two men and one woman out of the water. The two men and woman were taken to Contact Point by MCSO Patrol Boats, then further transported to the Havasu Regional Medical Center. Once at the hospital, the two men were pronounced dead.
The deceased were identified as 57-year-old Brad Kloepfer, who was operating the boat, and 69-year-old Paul Selberg, who was a passenger. The woman, who was also a passenger, was identified as 58-year-old Connie Davis Kloepfer. All three are from Lake Havasu City.
A local salvage company was able to recover the boat, known as "Lickity Split," from the bottom of the lake.
MSCO detectives say that all the occupants of the boat were wearing life jackets and the operator was wearing his safety kill switch. This case is still under investigation.
