Drivers, 18, involved in serious crash in west Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Two 18-year-olds were involved in a severe crash along Lake Mead Boulevard, east of Buffalo Drive, Friday afternoon.

Las Vegas police said the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to UMC Trauma with serious head injuries.

Officers also said the crash happened in the westbound lanes of Lake Mead just before 1:45 p.m.

LVMPD Lt. Bret Ficklin informed the media that this is the time of year when more motorcycles are on the roads, and it's the responsibility of both motorcyclists and drivers to be aware and look out for each other.

"Don't be distracted. Be off your phone. Be in the moment," Ficklin said. "Be where you're supposed to be because we have way too many incidents right now. We're having people getting seriously injured or killed on the roadways, and we're doing everything we can to keep that from happening."
