Students have been suspended after an administrator discovered a fight ring at Tarkanian Middle School.
A spokesperson for the Clark County School District said the administrator recently became aware of the fights being organized by several seventh graders after seeing a video of a fight online and recognizing the participants. The fight ring had been apparently operating at least a couple months before it was discovered.
Students told 13 Action News this all started with a Snapchat group among some 7th graders. They would place bets on fights that would happen before and after school in the bathroom.
CCSD did not say exactly how many students were suspended. CCSD had also said 18 students were involved before saying they are not sure how many students were involved in the fight ring.
No students suffered major or serious injuries and no students have had to be hospitalized as a result of the fight ring.
Officials believe all participants were students at Tarkanian Middle School.
The investigation is ongoing. CCSD police are looking into the situation for possible criminal charges.
