Woman killed in multi-vehicle crash identified

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 68-year-old Diane Goldsmith. Her death was caused due to multiple blunt force injuries and was ruled as accident.

ORIGINAL STORY: 

LAS VEGAS (KTNV)-- Las Vegas police are investigating a fatal crash at 8060 W. Tropical Parkway near Centennial Parkway in northwest Las Vegas.

"What we have here is a horrible collision. We have someone that died on the roadways. It's sad, tragic and yes it was avoidable," said Metro spokesperson Sgt. Richard Strader.

According to the initial report, at least three vehicles were involved, two of which are sedans.

The call came in around 2:20 p.m. when a box truck was headed down Tropical Parkway. That's when a Lexus pulled out of a shopping center parking lot, the force of impact pushed the Lexus into a Toyota Corolla. 

The driver of the Lexus was killed. The deceased is believed to be an adult female.

"Right now we're looking at everything," said Strader. "This is the very preliminary stages of investigation. We're going to be looking at the speed of  the vehicle approaching on the roadway. We'll also checking to make sure the rights of ways were were not violated.

This is the 37th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction.

Investigators say charges have not been filed in the crash, pending a complete investion.

No other details are available at this time.

The Clark County coroner will identify the deceased after relatives have been notified.
