A motorcyclist has died in a crash on the west side of the valley Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened between a Ford Explorer and a Harley Davidson around 12:10 p.m. near the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Buffalo Drive. Police said the Ford Explorer was traveling eastbound on Charleston Boulevard crossing Buffalo Drive when it struck the left side of the Harley. Witnesses told police the Explorer ran a red light.

The rider, a 72-year-old Las Vegas man, was ejected from the motorcycle. He was transported to UMC Trauma where he was pronounced dead by hospital staff.

The Clark County coroner identified the motorcyclist as Roger McClellan.

Police said the driver of the Explorer, identified as 29-year-old Joanne Kloza, failed sobriety tests and was booked into Clark County Detention Center for driving under the influence involving death. Neither the driver nor her passenger were injured.

Charleston between Buffalo and Antelope Way was closed for several hours as police investigated.
