NFL player shares drawing of cop getting throat slit, apologizes

Isaiah Crowell, a running back for the Cleveland Browns, has apologized after sharing a graphic drawing on social media that showed a white police officer having his throat cut.

Crowell released a statement on Monday apologizing for the illustration he shared on Instagram that went viral. 

The 23-year-old athlete said in the statement that last week was "emotional" and "difficult." He said he posted the image "in the midst of that emotion that I shouldn't have and immediately removed it."

Crowell acknowledged in the statement that he made a poor decision and apologized for the mistake.

According to SportingNews, the image showed a graphic illustration of a police officer having his throat slit open by a hooded figure. The caption on the image read, "Mood: They give polices all type of weapons and they continuously choose to kill us...#Weak."

Crowell posted the illustration just days after a shooting in Dallas that left 5 police officers dead.
