LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — As we celebrate Black History Month, 13 Action News is also recognizing those who are making strides within our local community and embodying what we like to call Black Excellence.

The Housing Assistance Corporation has one goal, help restore our local communities.

The goal of the Housing Assistance Corporation is to bring people together to make change and help younger people have more pride and sense of ownership within their local community.

During their Beautify The Block project last month, the corporation partnered with the City of North Las Vegas and other local groups to paint and upgrade the home of Alethea Williams.

For more than 50 years, she has helped the local community, babysitting the children of young parents who cannot afford a sitter.

Aside from this project, the H.A.C. works to bridge the gap between elders and millennials.

They also use connections with local professional athletes, music artists, and media outlets to help reach more people in the community.
