Fashion Show Mall hosting free festivities for Black History Month

In honor of Black History Month, Fashion Show Las Vegas will be hosting a number of complimentary festivities for shoppers and families to enjoy this February.

Beginning Feb. 6., guests will be invited to witness “Black History Matters”, a month-long celebration featuring a dynamic virtual runway show, the return of Carpool Cinema, and an immersive walkthrough experience consisting of live entertainment, performance art, and much more.

Fashion Show will offer guests the opportunity to celebrate Black History Month and African culture at “Black History Matters,” a collection of the below family-friendly events, while staying safe and maintaining social distancing measures:

- Forces in Fashion Virtual Runway Show
The leading shopping destination on the Strip will kick off “Black History Matters” with Forces in Fashion, a virtual runway show featuring traditional African styles and modern fashion looks from Dillard’s and Forever 21 inside Fashion Show. Additionally, shoppers will be treated to incredible performances by live African drummers and dancers. Shoppers can tune in to the Fashion Show Las Vegas Facebook page and witness the debut of the virtual runway show on Feb. 6 at 10 a.m.

- Trailblazer Talks
Throughout the month of February, Fashion Show will showcase special interviews with local African American leaders discussing all things fashion and the Las Vegas community. Speakers include Angela Tyler, CEO and designer of Rene' Tyler Plus Sizes 12 & Above, Nana Sarfo, teenage businesswoman and CEO of LPSCon, and Gentry Richardson, President of 100 Black Men Las Vegas. Guests can tune in and watch Trailblazer Talks on Facebook and Instagram.

- Carpool Cinema
Following the sold out debut of Carpool Cinema last fall, Fashion Show is bringing back its popular outdoor movie series with two complimentary double feature showings of “Black Panther” on Feb. 12 and Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Meal packages from Solo Qui, Yogurtland, and Opa! inside Fashion Show will be available for purchase at all events. Showings will be located on the top level of the South parking garage by Dillard’s and parking will open one hour prior to each showtime for guests to check in. Tickets can be reserved in advance at the Fashion Show events page and each ticket includes admission for one car.

- Journey Through History Walkthrough Experience
This February, Fashion Show will invite guests to immerse themselves in the art and culture of black history at Journey Through History. The walkthrough experience features high-fashion pieces worn in the Forces in Fashion runway show including modern looks by Dillard’s inside Fashion Show, artwork produced by local Las Vegas artist, Q’shaundra James, and live performances from African drummers and dancers. Guests can venture through this colorful experience located on level one by Neiman Marcus on Feb. 19, Feb. 20, Feb. 26, and, Feb. 27 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Reservations can be made in advance at the Fashion Show events page. Each ticket will accommodate up to five guests to ensure proper social distancing.

- Art of Culture
Inside Journey Through History, guests will also have the chance to observe Art of Culture in partnership with curator Patrick Duffy, President and CEO of Nevada School of the Arts, and Las Vegas born artist Q’shaundra James. Guests will watch James as she creates an original painting live titled, “You Can Go,” centered around honoring the lineage of the African diaspora portrayed throughout art history. Art of Culture will take place every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. starting Feb. 4 through Feb. 27. Meet-and-greet experiences with the artist will be offered on Feb. 13 and Feb. 25 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and can be reserved at the Fashion Show events page.
