LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — For the first time in more than 100 years, the Nevada Mining Association has its first Black president.
Tyre Gray took over as president of the association in 2020.
Gray says Nevada produces 22 different minerals that are critical to everyday life.
He is a graduate of UNLV's Boyd School of Law.
He is encouraging college students to consider a career in mining.
He's been working with the Black student union at the West Career & Technical Academy.
