Memorial Day Weekend is one of the busiest in Las Vegas. Around 320,000 people are expected to visit Las Vegas this year.
SERVICES/SPECIAL EVENTS
The public is invited to attend three Memorial Day events at the Southern Nevada Veterans Cemetery located in Boulder City. The first is on Saturday, May 26, with a "Flag-In" event. On Sunday, May 27, there will be a ceremony honoring Special Forces beginning at 10 a.m. at the cemetery’s Memorial Garden area. On Monday, May 28, there will be a Memorial Day ceremony at the cemetery beginning at 1 p.m. in the cemetery chapel. The keynote speakers include Nevada Department of Veterans Services Director Kat Miller and LCDR, Ed Giron, Commander of the Naval Operation Support Center in Las Vegas. The event is hosted by the Nevada Department of Veterans Services.
The Rotary Club of Green Valley will hold its inaugural Field of Honor event, planting 800 flags in an awe-inspiring display at Cornerstone Park in Henderson. The field will honor veterans, active duty military, first responders, and community members whose lives reflect the motto “Service Above Self.” A special area of the Park sponsored by the Rotary Club of Green Valley will be dedicated in remembrance of the 58 victims of 1 October.
This year will be the 24th year for the annual Fly Your Flags Over Hoover Dam Run. Thousands of motorcyclists participate in the ride each year that honors veterans. The ride begins at 10 a.m. May 27 on the Arizona side of Hoover Dam. The Vietnam Vets-Legacy Vets Motorcycle Club started the run in 1994. The ride ends at Boulder City's Veterans Memorial Cemetery with a short ceremony.
A Memorial Day event will be held May 28 at the Silent Heroes of the Cold War Memorial, located at the Kyle Canyon U.S. Forest Service Visitor Center. The event is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., including a flag ceremony at 10 a.m., laying of the wreath at 10:20 a.m. and tours of the memorial from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Le Village Buffet at Paris Las Vegas will feature specialty items on the Memorial Day Weekend brunch and dinner menus on May 26 and May 27. PERFORMANCES/PARTIES
The Las Vegas 51s are hosting a five-game homestand over Memorial Day Weekend against Tacoma Rainiers, the Triple-A affiliate for the Seattle Mariners. The first game will be on May 25, which is also Military Appreciation Night. KTNV Channel 13, Lotus Broadcasting and the 51s have teamed up with Honor Flight Southern Nevada to raise money to send WWII veterans from our community as well as Tonopah, Ely, Mesquite, Laughlin, Pahrump and surrounding areas to memorials in Washington, D.C. that stand in their honor. Channel 13 will be using its helicopter to fly in a veteran to throw out first pitch. There will be a spectacular fireworks show after the game. May 26 is Camouflage Baseball Cap Night. Smith's Value Menu Monday is back for the game on May 28.
BEER PARK at Paris Las Vegas will host a weekend-long Memorial Day party from May 25 through May 28. The Strip-side venue’s celebration will feature a live DJ playing top hits, more than 100 beer selections, including 36 drafts on tap, and oversized yard games, including Jenga, shuffle board and Connect Four. Wet'n'Wild is celebrating Memorial Day Weekend May 25 through 27. DJ IQ will perform on the Red Rock Bay wave stage on May 25. On May 25, the Vegas Idol competition will start at 2 p.m., Jasmine Trias will perform at 5, In Real Life performs at 7 and there will be a fireworks show at 8:30 p.m. On May 27, DJ IQ will be back.
