LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Fewer restaurants open means fewer violators, but health inspectors continue to discover health and sanitation issues.
El Pollo Mobile #2 is a Dirty Dining repeat offender.
On April 3, inspectors found the unit on Rainbow and Smoke Ranch operating under three imminent health hazards and with more than 21 demerits.
It was closed and given a cease and desist order for all food operations.
For starters, the outdoor mobile unit didn’t have any hot water. Inspectors found it was intentionally turned off during food operations and although that imminent health hazard was corrected on site, another could not be.
The unit’s wastewater tank was actively leaking sewage onto the ground and that wasn’t immediately fixable.
Other violations included raw chicken at a dangerously unsafe temperature. It was being stored in a broken freezer.

Cooked beans and a large container of salsa were also at unsafe temperatures in a cooler and a container of cooked tongue was left out and unattended in the temperature danger zone. All that food had to be thrown out.
There was no sanitizer in either prepared bucket and the cutting board was heavily soiled, deeply grooved and no longer cleanable.
Two food handlers didn’t have health cards and one was caught falsifying food temperature logs.
With the Rainbow and Smoke Ranch location being shut down, health inspectors allowed El Pollo Mobile to transfer all foods that were at the proper temperature to its other facility on Eastern and Bonanza.
El Pollo Mobile #2 was back to a zero-demerit A grade on April 7.
Manager Claudia Lazo says all is fixed and they’re working very hard to clean everything every day.
