We Heart Maggie Butterfly Bash and Golf Tournament - May 24-25
This Memorial Day weekend, May 24-25, We Heart Maggie celebrates the life of young Marguerite “Maggie” Anne Stewart at The Revere Golf Club, 2600 Hampton Road, Henderson. Maggie passed away in July 2008 at the age of 14 months due to complications during a procedure to correct a congenital heart defect. Her parents, John and Mollie Stewart, immediately founded the golf tournament to celebrate her short life. Since the inaugural event, nearly $1 million has been raised to benefit Children’s Heart Foundation. After a hit debut, the Butterfly Bash returns on May 24 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. This event, perfect for golfers and non-golfers alike, is the social affair of the weekend. The Butterfly Bash features signature cocktails, a Mexican dinner, live auction, silent auction early bidding, a Maverick Helicopter golf ball drop for amazing prizes, and an evening of fun. Guests must be over 21 with valid ID. The We Heart Maggie Golf Tournament is back on May 25 with double the field, permitting more Las Vegas golf aficionados to participate. Registration and pre-event activities begin at 11 a.m., with a shotgun start/scramble format at 12:30 p.m., followed by the awards reception beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets for the award reception are limited due to space. Las Vegans looking to participate in the fun are welcome to the favorite event of the day, Maggie’s Butterfly Village. From 2-5 p.m., the Butterfly Village will feature fun and games for all ages including a bounce house, putt putt, bean bag toss, cornhole, crafts, and treats. Guests can also participate in the silent auction and raffles for all age categories. Admission to the Butterfly Village is a new, unwrapped toy or a small-denomination gift card to be used in Maggie’s Garden at Children’s Heart Foundation. To participate in any of the weekend activities, please visit www.weheartmaggie.com or call the Children’s Heart Foundation at 702-967-3522.
Golden Rainbow to Present 'Summer of Love' for Ribbon of Life - June 23
Tickets are on sale now for Golden Rainbow's 33rd annual Ribbon of Life on June 23 at Tropicana Las Vegas. Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Woodstock, "Summer of Love" will feature performances inspired by the three-day music festival of peace, love and music. Last year's Ribbon of Life event raised nearly $85,000 for critically needed services for those living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. Co-founded in 1987, Golden Rainbow is a non-profit organization that provides housing and financial assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS in Southern Nevada. The organization was established by members of the Las Vegas entertainment industry who saw the need to provide housing for people with AIDS when one of their fellow performers was forced to live and eventually die in his family's garage. EDIE, the Mistress of Sensuality from "Zumanity," and Sean McAllister, from FOX 5's MORE Show will return as hosts as they introduce talent from major shows on the Strip. For over 30 years, Ribbon of Life has been an original talent showcase featuring custom production numbers from some of the Strip's singers, dancers, and performers. Tickets start at $45 and can be purchased at goldenrainbow.org/ribbonoflife. Guests of all ages are welcome to attend the show.
