Following is a list of recent donations in the Las Vegas Community.
On April 18, Las Vegas Sands, through its global corporate giving program, Sands Cares, presented HELP of Southern Nevada with a $100,000 check to its Shannon West Homeless Youth Center. The representatives posed together for photos surrounded by the youth center’s residents and supporters. Following the presentation, a dinner prepared by the chefs of The Venetian Resort Las Vegas was served by the Sands Cares volunteers. The donation will provide 1,807 nights of shelter for the youth, and the opportunity to name five rooms on the first floor of the center after Sands Cares. HELP of Southern Nevada's Shannon West Homeless Youth Center provides services for at-risk youth that are homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless. The Youth Center motivates residents towards reaching self-sufficiency by providing the training and skills to further their education, employment, social and life skills. The residential and day programming enables youth to learn skills necessary to succeed as adults. By collaborating with a number of agencies, the following services are provided on site: intensive case management, substance abuse counseling, mental health referrals, educational assessment, vocational training, and life skills groups focusing on a variety of issues such as anger management, independent living, money management, peer socialization, consumer and problem solving skills, and health education.
