LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The Animal Foundation in Las Vegas is waiving all adoption fees on Saturday as intake continues to surge.
It's the second weekend in a row the foundation is waiving its adoption fees for all cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies. Cannabis dispensary Planet 13 is covering all of the fees.
The Animal Foundation took in 2,729 animals in July — that's 88 animals per day, on average.
Right now, there are 233 pets available for adoption. Adopters are "urgently" needed "to maintain a manageable shelter population and ensure the well-being of the animals and staff," the foundation said.
The foundation also needs people to foster pets.
All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. The shelter opens at 11 a.m., but it's common for a line to form before then.
