The city of Henderson honored Olympic gold medalist Connor Fields Tuesday.
Fields is a two-time Olympian and received his medal in BMX racing at the Rio Olympics. The mayor of Henderson, along with several city council members, held a celebration for him appropriately at the Whitney Mesa BMX Track.
He was also recognized with a day proclaimed in his honor.
Fields says he is beyond proud to be one of several Nevadans representing in Rio.
The local athlete made history as the first American gold medalist in BMX. He is currently pursuing a degree at UNLV.
