As part of the Tropicana Escalator Project, construction on the north pedestrian bridge between the MGM Grand Las Vegas and New York New York resorts is scheduled to begin April 3.
During this time the north pedestrian bridge elevators and escalators will be shut down and barricaded for construction activities. The ground level areas immediately outside the elevators and nearby mechanical and electrical rooms will also be barricaded for construction.
These changes will be in place until July at which time the entire bridge will be shut down until September. Traffic control around the project will be ongoing Sunday night through Friday morning between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.
The Tropicana Escalator Project will replace the existing escalators and enhance the existing pedestrian bridge finishes at the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard. The project also will include the removal and replacement of existing bridge guardrail systems, replacement of wearing surfaces and construction of new maintenance rooms including the upgrade of existing electrical room and elevator machine room equipment and finishes.
