People living in the Summerlin area say they've never seen this many rats before.
The Hanna family says they've lived on the west part of town for 45 years and never saw a rat until a month ago.
"I'd say with the tail, they are probably a good solid foot," said Daryl Hanna.
Red Rock Pest Control says the majority of their rat calls are from people living in the Summerlin area.
They say one of the contributing factors is Summerlin tends to have a more attractive landscape for rats and a better water source.
Food and water and a good place to hide are all rats need to be happy and reproduce.
Make sure all food is sealed properly and put away in a tight place. Make sure you don't have any leaking pipes either.
