LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A small plane was forced to make an emergency landing on Kyle Canyon Road, near mile marker 19, on Sunday afternoon.

Both pilots were able to escape uninjured, according to Las Vegas Fire and Rescue.

The plane landed safely around 12:30 p.m. in the middle of the road.

13 Action News spoke with the pilot, who says the plane was on a training flight out of North Las Vegas Airport when the plane experienced some sort of engine trouble.

"I thought he (student pilot) did something because the engine just stopped," says Ira Smith.

"I immediately took control and tried to restart, check the fuel tanks and went through the emergency procedures as much s possible.”

Kyle Canyon Road was closed from U.S. 95 to Deer Creek Road for several hours until the plane could be moved.

Nevada Highway Patrol says the landing is under investigation.
