The Bellagio is not the first hotel-casino to catch fire on the Las Vegas Strip. There have also been fires at The Cosmopolitan, Monte Carlo, and the original MGM Grand.
The fire at The Cosmopolitan in 2015 happened in their pool area.
In 2008, the top floors of the Monte Carlo caught fire and spread quickly because of "unapproved materials" that were used on the building.
The worst fire was at the original MGM Grand in 1980. 85 people died and more than 600 people were injured in that fire. The fire prompted new regulations for sprinkler systems and fire alarms in high rises. It was the worst disaster in Nevada history.
