Investigators say a 33-year-old male died at Lake Mead on Tuesday.

Around 6:30 p.m., the Lake Mead National Recreation Area Interagency Communication Center received a call, reporting a vessel was coming into Callville Bay Marina with a deceased passenger on board. Later calls reported that the victim possibly drowned and that CPR was in progress.

National Park Service medics and rangers responded. After resuscitation attempts, the victim was pronounced dead at 7:21 p.m.

According to witnesses, the victim jumped from the boat without a life jacket while it was in motion at full plane. The vessel operator returned to retrieve the victim and found him face down in the water.

The Clark County Medical Examiner will confirm the victim’s identity and determine cause of death.

The incident is under investigation.
