NEW: The female person of interest contacted homicide detectives and was interviewed. This woman is no longer being sought in connection with this incident and is now only considered a witness.
LATEST UPDATE: A vigil was held Tuesday evening outside Lee's Discount Liquor to remember Matthew Christensen, the 24-year-old employee who was shot during the robbery.
Family and friends described Christensen as "the life of the party."
"He loved to make everybody smile and that's why he was so personable, everyone liked him," said Reggie Christensen, Matthew's brother.
Christensen was a student at Mojave High School, before moving to Arizona. He moved back to Las Vegas with his girlfriend several years ago. According to his family, he was just three weeks away from leaving the job at Lee's to pursue another opportunity.
"When we moved out to Vegas, his mother said 'take care of him Yvette' and I wasn't there to protect him [when he died]," said his girlfriend Yvette Rioux.
Now, friends and family just want to know why an innocent man was killed.
"Why? What was the point? Cause he couldn't open a safe? You had money, you could have had exactly what you left with, but with one less person dead," Reggie said.
A GoFundMe has been set up for Matthew Christensen.
