LATEST: The Clark County Coroner has identified the victim as 50-year-old Paul Carr Palmer III from Sedona, Arizona. The officer has been identified as 42-year-old Peter Bicsanszky. He has been with LVMPD since July, 1998.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting at Gold Spike Hotel & Gambling Hall in Jean.
Around 9:40 a.m. Saturday, LVMPD responded after receiving numerous reports of a naked male adult in the pool area who was chasing around employees with a knife.
An arriving officer encountered the suspect in the southeast parking lot. The suspect was still armed with a knife and would not cooperate with the officer despite several verbal commands. The officer used his low-lethal shotgun against the suspect, but it was ineffective.
The suspect then charged at the officer, which prompted the officer to fire his handgun. The suspect was struck multiple times. Emergency crews immediately rendered medical aid but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
