Penis-shaped Christmas light display raises some eyebrows

A penis-shaped Christmas light display is raising some eyebrows near East Bonanza Road and North 1st Street.

"It's off the wall," said Monty Maguire.

At first glance, it's possible to miss it. Bright Christmas lights are hanging on a dead palm tree. Below, there are two medicine balls with strands of blue lights.

"We knew what it was," said neighbor Carol Tinney.

Tinney's 12-year-old grandson knew what it was too.

"It's really funny," said Joshua.

Many neighbors told 13 Action News they don't mind the display. However, it's also leading to some awkward conversation between Joshua and his younger sister.

"She said, hey Josh, what is that?" he said.

Maguire said it's all in good fun.

"People stop and say that's just great," he said.

On Halloween, the tree stump is decorated as a ghost.

Maguire said he hasn't received any complaints from parents throughout the three years he's been decorating the stump.

"Kids that small, they're not going to understand what it is anyway," he said. "I've seen a lot worse."
