A pedestrian has been killed by a vehicle near South Jones Boulevard and West Patrick Lane.
The incident happened around 6:10 a.m. Monday.
Evidence at the scene indicated a pedestrian was crossing Jones Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk.
A 2009 MercedesBenz was traveling southbound on Jones Boulevard in the right travel lane. The pedestrian was struck by the front of the MercedesBenz.
The driver of the MercedesBenz left the scene after the collision without police response. The MercedesBenz and driver were located a short time later at an area grocery store.
The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.
The driver of the MercedesBenz was suspected of driving under the influence and was transported to the Clark County Detention Center for further testing.
This was the 120th traffic related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Departments jurisdiction for the year 2015.
The collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Accident Investigation Section.
