Pedestrian dies after hit by RTC bus near Lamb, Las Vegas boulevards

A pedestrian has died after being hit by an RTC bus early Tuesday morning.

Around 2:37 a.m., the crash was reported around Las Vegas and Lamb boulevards.

Police said a bus was traveling north in the right of two northbound travel lanes on Las Vegas Boulevard when the bus hit a pedestrian who was standing in the right lane of Las Vegas Boulevard with a shopping cart.

The pedestrian was transported to UMC Trauma where he was declared deceased by attending medical personnel. The driver of the bus remained on scene and was not suspected of impairment.

The identity of the 60-year-old man killed will be released by the Clark County coroner.

This marks the 43rd traffic-related fatality in Las Vegas police's jurisdiction.

RTC released a statement regarding the pedestrian's death.

"We are deeply saddened by this morning's fatal accident that occurred on Las Vegas Boulevard near Lamb Boulevard," said Angela Castro, RTC spokeswoman. "We extend our condolences to the victim's family as well as to the passengers and the driver who were aboard the bus. The RTC is committed to helping to ensure public safety, and we are working closely with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department as it continues to investigate the incident."
