UPDATE (APRIL 11): 2-year-old Liam has died of his injuries, Nevada Highway Patrol reported Monday.
13 Action News spoke to the toddler's father, Joe Collard, at University Medical Center earlier in the day.
"It's hard to describe what I'm feeling," he said. "No parent should bury their child."
Collard says he flew in from Spain where he is currently stationed to be by his son's side.
"I didn't hesitate," he said. "I have an amazing support system. My buddies helped facilitate me getting here."
According to investigators, Liam was thrown from a vehicle being driven by his mother Davi Lynne Owens, who died on the scene of Thursday's crash on the 215 Beltway near Lone Mountain Road.
"We were all going to hang out at a new apartment," said Davi's fiancé Jimmy Schneider, "I lost everything I had in a split second."
The family tells 13 Action News they plan to donate Liam's organs.
"He was the best thing a father could ask for," said Collord.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
