UPDATE: Coroner identifies body found in burned up pickup

MARCH 16 UPDATE: The Clark County coroner says Larry Cross died of hypertensive atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (in the setting of recent cocaine use). His death was ruled accidental.

DEC. 31 UPDATE: The Clark County Coroner has identified the deceased man as 66-year-old Larry Cross from Las Vegas. Cross' cause of death has yet to be determined.

Investigators are trying to piece together what happened after a person was found dead inside a burning vehicle near downtown Las Vegas Sunday evening.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue reports firefighters responded to 219 West Monroe Avenue, near D Street and Owens for a vehicle fire just before 8 p.m.

Firefighters say the vehicle was "heavily" involved with fire.

Authorities say they found a victim inside the vehicle when they investigated further.

Arson investigators along with Las Vegas Police homicide detectives are working together to determine the facts and circumstances related to the fire.

This is standard procedure anytime there is a fire with a fatality in the City of Las Vegas.

No other details were immediately released regarding the victim.
