Neighbors say a water main broke, spewing water out of the ground and flooding the parking lots within the complex early Saturday morning.
By Saturday night, the hole was covered and the street open again at the Promenade at The Meadows, located near Meadows Lane and Decatur Boulevard.
One neighbor's car got stuck in the hole.
"I was going to Subway to get a sandwich and I seen a bit of water and I didn't take any notice of it," Danny Larkin said. "The next thing was my car landing in a home and I couldn't get it out."
He said it isn't the first time there has been an issue with the water main in complex.
The water district cleaned up the scene and Larkin's car was towed.
