Amid the tragedy, there are always incidents of bravery and of heroism, the stories that will remind you of the love in the world.
How Aden Huser, a 5-year-old, was reunited with his mother Doris is one of them.
They were separated at the Route 91 festival in Las Vegas when Doris took Aden's older sister to the bathroom and left him with his aunt.
When the shooting started, Doris couldn't find her son.
"I lost her and I was sad because it was just me and my aunt and I didn't know where my sister was so I didn't know where to run," Aden said.
Lindsey Rogers and a friend saw Aden standing alone.
She says she did what anyone would've done: she helped.
"He was really brave and really good," Rogers said. "He didn't cry or anything. I think he was just confused."
One of Rogers' friends took a picture of Aden, posted it on Facebook, and let the internet do the work.
It didn't take long for the post to be shared enough for one of Aden's relatives to see.
Rogers took the boy to Sunrise Hospital, where his grandparents came to pick him up.
Then came the emotional reunion with Doris.
"All I remember is seeing my son come out of the garage door and I dropped to my knees," she said. "He ran as hard as he could to me and we were like one for a second. He just held on to me so tight."
Doris says she will be seeking trauma counseling for Aden and herself.
