One person is critically hurt in a rollover crash on the far east side of the valley overnight.

The crash occurred around 11:15 p.m. Monday in the 4200 block of South Hollywood Boulevard, near Desert Inn Road in an area behind Wetlands Park. Police said the driver of a Ford Mustang was going much faster than the posted speed limit of 25 mph when the person lost control and flipped over on the side of the road.

"I can tell you for a fact that speed is a factor, you don't lose control of your vehicle without speed being attached to it," said Sgt. Richard Strader. "Speed limit on this road is 25. I can tell you with relative certainty they were going faster than 25."

The left rear passenger, 18-year-old Alejandro Camargo-Hernandez, was ejected and came to rest in the desert area. He had life-threatening injuries.

Meanwhile, occupant 20-year-old Jaime Santillan fled the scene on foot and was later found in his apartment complex. Passenger Omar Flores, 18, was transported to Sunrise Trauma with minor injuries but left before being treated and before he could be interviewed by detectives.

Police believe alcohol may have been in a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
