A Las Vegas woman is recovering after a dog attack near her home, leaving major injuries on her face.

"Cover the mirrors.  I don't want to see this.  I can feel it.  I don't want to see it," Joan Hobbs said of her instructions when she returned home from the hospital.

Hobbs weeps as she looks at old pictures outside her home near Lamb and North Las Vegas Boulevards, knowing she may never look that way again

She says she was going to a neighbor's house to drop off a stroller Monday afternoon.

As Hobbs approached the fence she said the dog attacked.

"The dog was on the porch and came down the stairs and went up (makes a noise) and down, and I just screamed," Hobbs said.

The bite, leaving painful wounds on Hobbs' face, requiring dozens of stitches.

She says doctor's told her she'll need several surgeries to repair the damage.

Hobbs says she now cringes any time she passes by houses with big dogs.

While she knows most are good dogs; there is no doubt when it comes to what she wants done to the dog that scarred her for life.

"The dog needs to be put down.  I was doing nothing.  I didn't even touch the fence," Hobbs said.

A spokesperson for Clark County Animal Control said they are still looking into the incident and said the dog involved is in animal control custody as part of that investigation.
