A local ballet teacher says mistakes in her past should not stop her from asking for donations, even though she admits she is behind on restitution payments stemming from a theft case against her.

Bernadette Sanders is the director of North Las Vegas Ballet Theater, located in a small office suite near Ann Road and Camino Al Norte.

Sanders claims to be battling a number of health issues, including Lupus.

In September, 13 Action News shared her heartbreaking story, that despite her struggles, she was still teaching children the timeless art of ballet. In her time of need, Sanders was asking for monetary donations to help cover her medical expenses.

Since then, Contact 13 became aware of Sanders' felonious past. Particularly, an arrest and conviction for theft in Carroll County, Maryland in 2013.
