Henderson Police Department officers will be out in force looking for motorists and their passengers not wearing seat belts during the Click It or Ticket enforcement effort over the next few weeks.
As part of Joining Forces, a statewide law enforcement program, agencies will work together to enforce seat belt laws. The enhanced enforcement will run from May 10-31. Officers will use saturation patrols throughout Henderson to stop vehicles for traffic violations and then check for seat belt use. Seat belt violations are a secondary offense in Nevada.
Click it or Ticket is a national program sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The Henderson Police Department received $203,700 in federal funding through the Nevada Department of Public Safety - Office of Traffic Safety for the 2017 Joining Forces program. The grant provides funding for enforcement and education to reduce deaths and injuries on Nevada roadways. Enforcement events during the year will focus on pedestrian safety, seat belt use, speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving.
