A woman died in a shooting in northeast Las Vegas early Saturday morning.
Police found the woman with an apparent gunshot wound around 2:40 a.m. at a townhome in the 3800 block of Terrazzo Avenue, near Cheyenne Avenue and Walnut Road. Police had initially responded to the area after getting reports of a woman crying for help.
Homicide detectives indicated the shooting occurred just inside the doorway to the residence. The victim then fell in the doorway where she was found by arriving officers.
Anna Briseno told Action News she was the one who heard the victim and called 911.
"She was saying help me I'm dying," said Briseno. "I was scared. My first reaction was I thought she fell or something."
The woman was transported the UMC Trauma where she was later pronounced deceased. The identity of the victim will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office but friends identified her as Denise Gray.
"She's very outspoken, outgoing, very calm," said family friend Aliyahanna McNeal. "She never bothered anybody."
McNeal says something occurred the night before that may have triggered the shooting. She says it was an altercation of some sort around 10:30 p.m. She believes the shooter came back to settle the score.
