Police are investigating a home invasion that was reported shortly after 11 a.m. Friday from a residence in the 1600 block of East Katie Avenue near South Maryland Parkway and Orr Middle School.

The victim's sister says she is 65-year-old Cristina Balgos.

Her sister, Cynthia Iglesia, says Balgos lives her husband and a roommate in the apartments but was home alone at the time. Her sister says three suspects came into her home, tied her up, and took whatever they could.

Balgos was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

Balgos was supposed to go visit family in California when the attack happened.

Iglesia says the family is traumatized. She's been trying to get her elderly sister to move for more than a year, and that Balgos' apartment was also burglarized last year.

13 Action News also spoke with another neighbor who saw three suspicious men in the apartment complex just hours before the robbery.

Sulaiman Hinton says he confronted the men and thought they had left.

"I think that they soft.  Because you tried to aim for an older lady who can't help herself," he says.
