Nye County Sheriff's Office Deputies arrested Daniel Weldon on Sunday for allegedly robbing a Green Valley Grocery in Pahrump with a machete.

The incident happened on Nov. 25 around 11:40 p.m. near Blagg Road and Highway 372. Weldon allegedly entered the business with a dark-colored piece of clothing covering his face and a machete. Police say he took money from the cash register, a bottle of Fireball whiskey, and 30 cans of Keystone beer.

Weldon fled on foot before deputies arrived. But officials were able to note his appearance from surveillance footage. They also found boot imprints located in the dirt area between Green Valley Grocery and Comstock Park.

The next day at approximately 6:30 a.m., deputies received reports of someone with a self-inflicted gunshot wound near Manse Road and Club House Drive. When deputies arrived, they found Weldon, who had accidentally shot himself with a pellet rifle and not a firearm.

Weldon was carrying a backpack with him, and when deputies searched it, they found 26 Keystone Light beers. His clothing also matched what officials saw in the surveillance footage.

NCSO Deputies arrested Weldon before transporting him to UMC Trauma.

During this time, detectives were also able to match the boot imprints in the dirt area between Green Valley grocery and Comstock Park to the boots that were worn by Weldon.

Weldon is currently being held at the Nye County Detention Center on $38,130 cash or bond.
