A young man is dead after a shooting Thursday night.

The shooting was reported at 8 p.m. in the 900 block of West Lake Mead Boulevard, east of Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Police confirm the young man was shot and killed outside the West Las Vegas Arts Center, a library along Lake Mead Boulevard. His body was found near the basketball courts in Doolittle Park.

He was identified as 19-year-old Javante Stockard. He died of a gunshot wound to the chest after being taken to University Medical Center.
