UPDATE JULY 14: A 25-year-old woman has been arrested in the stabbing death of an elderly man in May.

The suspect, identified as Shaunice McKinley, was seen on surveillance video leaving Palace Station with the victim, Willie Normand, the night of the murder.

According to the arrest report, DNA evidence from a condom led police to the suspect.

McKinley is also accused of stealing Normand's car.

A warrant for McKinley's arrest was issued on June 29 on charges of murder with the use of a deadly weapon and grand larceny of an auto for less than $3,500.

Normand's sister says this is one step closer to getting closure.

"I forgive her," says sister Dawanda Normand-Thomas. But she also says she wants to know why.

"I want to know what led up to this. There must have been something going on in her life to make her approach an elderly man like that."

UPDATE MAY 11:  Relatives identify the man found dead as Willie Normand.  Originally from Louisiana, the 79-year-old leaves behind children, grandchildren and seven siblings.

"They tried to make me eat but I couldn't," said sister Jean Sanders.

Sanders was very close to Willie.  They talked daily on the phone.

"Pick up the phone, I know you're there," said Sanders.

She's memorized the voice message he always left behind.

The Normand family is perplexed as they watch their loved one with a stranger in surveillance video released by police.

They said the entire incident is unlike Willie.  They wonder why someone would kill a peaceful elderly man.

"I guarantee you he had never had a flight in his life," said brother-in-law Eddie Sanders.

We're told Willie worked as a supervisor at The Orleans.  He loved his job and was not planning on retiring anytime soon.
