UPDATE:

13 Action News cameras were the only ones inside the courtroom as an alleged serial robber appeared before a judge for the first time.

According to court documents, Andrew Perez, 18, is facing several robbery, burglary, and weapons charges.

The charges stem from at least three different incidents in May and June.

Prosecutors said they believe Perez is involved in a series of eight robberies across the valley.

"One of the robberies did result in the shooting of one of the victim's," said the prosecutor, "Mr. Perez was not inside of that 7-Eleven at the time of the shooting but was in the car outside."

Five of six defendants are currently in custody. Detectives are still tracking down one suspect.

Perez is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Police have not yet commented on any arrests or released any other information.
