It was a gruesome scene in the east valley as officers found dead animals in garbage bags alongside the road.
It happened near Lake Mead and Lamb boulevards.

Police and animal control officers concentrated on two areas.
There were three bags of dead animals found there. Two of those bags were clearly full of dead cats. The third bag was difficult to see inside, but clearly contained a larger animal.
Before opening the bags, officers called in a CSI to document evidence.
Annoula Wylderich, who first called police, says she is encouraged to see Las Vegas police taking the case so seriously.
She says she recently learned the police department has created an animal cruelty unit to handle these types of cases.
"I thought finally we are addressing a very serious issue," Wylderich said.
Here are some more of the photos from today's investigation into the dead animals found on the side of the road. Some of the photos further in the gallery are graphic and my appropriate for everyone.
