Seven people were displaced in an apartment fire Thursday night.

Around 10:40 p.m., the Clark County Fire Department responded to a reported apartment fire at 605 Royal Crest Circle, near Twain Avenue and Swenson Street.

Upon arrival, firefighters found a heavy amount of smoke coming from the second floor of a 2-story apartment building.  Given the amount of smoke and the time of night, the Incident Commander called for a 2nd alarm.

Firefighters mounted an aggressive attack on the fire while simultaneously beginning evacuations of the apartment building’s occupants.  After 20 minutes of firefighting operations, the Incident Commander noted a significant improvement in conditions and the situation was beginning to deescalate. Firefighters were on the scene of this incident for over three hours.

The American Red Cross was called to assist a total of seven individuals who were displaced by the fire.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
