A valley teenager shot during a home invasion is speaking out for the first time to 13 Action News. Janeen Hinden, 14, was critically injured at her Summerlin home near Hualapai Way and Desert Inn Road last month.
"All I really think about is how lucky I am to be here and have both of my legs," said Hinden.

At least one person forced his or her way into the home, and then started shooting, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The family said two to three men climbed a wall and entered through a balcony on the second floor.
"I just hear my mom screaming at the top of her lungs," said Hinden.
The 14-year-old feared her mother was having another stroke. Immediately, she rushed towards her mother's room, crossing into the line of fire.
"I ran," she said, "and then boom I got shot."
The brave teenager walked our crews through the blood-splattered home.
Baby J described how her mother was able to take cover behind a dresser as dozens of shots were fired.
Picardi tried to defend the family with a firearm but the weapon jammed.
"He got shot, he collapsed in front of me," said Hinden.
Hinden, who has been shooting her whole life, grabbed the weapon.
"I hit it on me, and I kept hitting it," she said.

She then fired back at the intruders.
Riddled with bullets, Picardi, grabbed the gun, and also fired.

"Guys ran out the balcony, and one ran right down the stairs," she said.
Picardi remains at the hospital. He is slowly recovering.
No one has been arrested in connection to this crime, according to police.
In the hours after the invasion, detectives said the crime did not appear to be random.
Relatives said they did not know the perpetrators.
"I still don't believe that it actually happened," said Hinden.
Baby J said the horrific incident has deeply impacted her family.
She said she is sharing her story with 13 Action News so that other homeowners arm themselves.
