UPDATE: A community is mourning a teenager gunned down in a senseless act of violence.

Crystal Barboza says her last words to her son Angelo were, "I love you."

"He answered back, 'I love you too, Mom. I'll be back in a couple of hours.' A couple of hours never came," she said. "He's dead."

Dozens of people prayed and lit candles for Angelo Saturday.

Police officers and religious leaders were also there to send a message of peace, saying things are getting out of hand and officers need help from families and community leaders.

ORIGINAL STORY: Police are investigating a shooting and stabbing at a Las Vegas recreation center that led to a young man's death and several teens getting hurt.

Las Vegas authorities say two groups of teenagers got into an altercation at 3:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hollywood Recreational Center.

Shots were fired and one man was pronounced dead at the scene. After the confrontation both groups fled, but one of them only made it a few blocks down the road where they stopped and begged neighbors for help. Jeffrey Jones was one of them.

I didn't know what to do,” Jones said. “At that time of morning, you wake up, you're panicking, and you don't know what's going on."

Investigators say four teens, who range in age from 16 to 19, were wounded.

"They were banging on the door and when I asked them what was going on they basically were saying they need help they just got shot," Jones said.

One was taken to the hospital in critical condition. The other two had non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say another victim was stabbed but that person's condition was not immediately available.

Lt. Dan McGrath says the incident could be gang-related. He says investigators are asking witnesses to come forward.

One suspect is in custody at this time.
